Abstract

Low-medieval testaments have become formidable tools to deal with a wide scope of issues, which include views of the last wills from the social, socio-cultural and even economic history; in this case, especially related to the patrimonies of nobility. The interest also came from the history of mentalities and the inclinations related to gender that placed woman in the centre of the scene.
The spiritual and material duplication of these documents and the conscious responsibility at the moment of making the legacy, that make the salvation of souls possible, lead to a scrupulous enumeration and assignation of the properties under discussion, in such a way, that the content becomes an efficient tool to ponder the wealth standard of the legatees and, as in Elvira Pérez case, of a bourgeois from Compostela in the middle of the 14th century.
