Popular Thought in Rodolfo Kusch. Contributions for a Debate on Culture Today.

Abstract

This paper proposes a review of popular thought, which the Argentine author Rodolfo Kusch does, observing the Latin American context. And we will do it from the perspective of cultural philosophical anthropology, it is within this approach where the thought of Kusch arises, a relevant author regarding the contribution he makes to the problem of «the popular», along with the implications that this notion has. for understanding current culture. We propose in the first instance to look at the general context in which his thinking develops, and then analyze some keys of the present environment to the problem of «popular culture», and to clarify at each moment with the ideas that Rodolfo Kusch had regarding culture. All of the above will be in dialogue with different authors such that it allows us to problematize at all times our own conceptions that we have regarding the notion of what is popular and that support our edifice of beliefs and convictions regarding the subject. Following this itinerary, we intend to analyze the complex relationship between popular culture and dominant culture. Our interest is to examine how different cultures interrelate, tension and dialogue within the social fabric. Along with this, we propose to explore and establish certain distinctions that will allow us to be clear about the importance and validity of asking about popular culture today. We will also subject to examination and criticism the proposals that Rodolfo Kusch proposes in order to dialogue with different positions that allow us to construct a broad panorama, generating meaning when looking at the different cultural expressions in the face.
